Thomas P. Anzelmo / Director

Thomas Anzelmo has extensive trial experience as lead counsel in bench and jury trials in state and federal court.  He has successfully defended personal injury damage claims brought against public bodies, local corporate clients, and large national corporations involving insured, uninsured, and self-insured claims. These claims involve various areas of the law including medical malpractice, premises liability, SIU/insurance fraud litigation, toxic torts, and products liability.  Mr. Anzelmo was selected to represent numerous local tobacco distributors in a national class action, individual claims, and local class action litigation.  These claims were primarily personal injury claims of current and former smokers and their descendants.

Mr. Anzelmo has a broad background in the representation of public officials and public bodies in connection with the defense of general municipal casualty claims and civil rights litigation.  He continues to represent public bodies and defend various clients against general casualty claims.  Mr. Anzelmo currently represents local levee districts in the multiple class-actions filed against them subsequent to Hurricane Katrina.  Mr. Anzelmo also has experience representing clients before State and Municipal regulatory agencies and boards. He has represented clients before the Louisiana Department of Revenue Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control on revocation of alcoholic beverage licenses, and the Louisiana Tax Commissioner on regulatory penalty matters.

Mr. Anzelmo became a founding director of McCranie, Sistrunk, Anzelmo, Hardy, McDaniel & Welch after serving as director at the New Orleans firm of McGlinchey, Stafford, Cellini & Lang and as Deputy City Attorney for the City of New Orleans.
