Before joining the firm in August 2006, Diana Velez was staff counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in its Baton Rouge office. Her prior litigation experience is in the areas of insurance coverage issues, automobile accidents, and contracts.
In May of 2008, Diana received the Bronze Award from the President’s Council on Service and Civil Participation. The President’s Council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer work. Diana was recognized as having devoted more than one hundred hours of volunteer work over a twelve-month period, between 2007 and 2008. As a new member in the Junior League of Greater Covington, Diana initiated and organized an annual blood drive, sponsored by the League, to benefit local children within the area being treated for cancer. The blood drive, which assists the children and their families with much needed blood and community support, led to over one hundred donations of blood from individuals who had never donated before. As a recipient of the Bronze Award, Diana received a personalized certificate of achievement and a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States, George W. Bush.
